El Zarape Mexican Food Information

If you're in Redding and craving some authentic Mexican food, El Zarape Mexican Food should be at the top of your list. Nestled at 829 Twin View Blvd, this spot has become a local favorite for those who want their tacos, burritos, and enchiladas done right. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s not a place with fancy decor, but it’s got a charm that feels welcoming and unpretentious, perfect for a casual meal with family or friends.

The menu at El Zarape is packed with options that showcase the flavors of Mexico in all the right ways. Whether you’re in the mood for something simple like a classic taco or want to dive into something more hearty like their sizzling fajitas, you’ll find it all here. For me, the carne asada burrito is always a win. It’s perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of meat, beans, and guacamole, wrapped in a warm, soft tortilla that holds everything together. Each bite is like a little taste of home, especially when paired with their signature salsa that packs just the right amount of heat.

One thing that really stands out about El Zarape is the consistency. No matter when you visit, you can expect the same quality of food and friendly service. The staff is always ready with a smile, and they make sure you feel taken care of throughout your meal. Whether you’re dining in or picking up takeout, the experience remains solid, and that's not something you find everywhere.

In terms of drink options, they’ve got a solid selection of Mexican sodas, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try one of their margaritas. They’re not overly sweet, which is a nice change from many other spots, and they complement the bold flavors of the food perfectly. If you’re looking for a quick bite or a full meal, El Zarape’s got you covered. It’s one of those places where you can show up in your jeans after a busy day or plan a weekend outing with friends to enjoy great food and conversation.

The location itself is easy to find, and while it's not a flashy, downtown location, it’s definitely worth the short drive. Plus, the parking is ample, so you won’t have to worry about finding a spot. All in all, El Zarape Mexican Food is a standout in Redding when it comes to casual Mexican cuisine. It’s delicious, affordable, and offers that warm local vibe that makes you want to keep coming back.

What People's Say About Place

Let me just start off by saying I LOVE Mexican food. Of course the more authentic the better, and this place is absolutely as authentic as it gets. I live right across the street from it, and I couldn't be happier! I come in at least 3 times a week. Everything I've gotten has been so delicious. If you want really really good authentic Mexican food, you NEED to come here. You will be very happy you did. It's definitely a gem.

Great chow, great help, acceptable facilities with a large, shaded patio. Counter service, Pepsi fountain with bottled beers. Unusual items but no cacti, not grasshoppers, or other exotic selections. I recommend the Zerape tacos, (your choice of meat) something close to the "puffy taco" of which I am so fond. We're committed to visiting every Mexican food place in & around Redding so this and the following reviews will be based on just one visit, where our usual standard is only reviewing after the third visit (because Redding is blessed with so very many Mexican food choices). •Our standard for excellence is the late, lamented, La Cabaña. El Zarape is halfway to La Cabaña. DOUG out

I spent the night in the city on my way back to So Cal. When I arrived I realized I had been there the last time, 7 years ago! I was so happy to go back because I remember it being delicious. It did not disappoint. I got the Zarape tacos and boy oh boy so I recommend! Its basically a quesa-birria taco. Yummmm! Everyone else loved their food. The burritos are a great size for the price. You get free chips and salsa and friendly faces. Definitely saving this place so I can INTENTIONALLY make my way there again when I'm in the area. 10 out of 10 recommend. Delicious food and the name isn't lying - it has authentic flavors.

So the birria tacos house special is on Hit!!!! Also the ladys are lovely. I do enjoy the food here its fire

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. However, the inside is spotless clean. The service is great and the food is outstanding!! The prices are average. This is a must go place. Very authentic Mexican food. Delicious.

This place is perfect. The service was fast, attentive, and helpful to make the best choice. Green salsa was bomb. Drinks were great! The atmosphere was good. Temperature of the place was on point and decor was nice. The food was super delicious!!!!

You wouldn't know it by looking at it, but this mom and pop place serves up nice traditional Mexican food. The pastor and chorizo tacos were great. The pork was delicious, The rice and beans were very tasty.

Quick, clean, delicioso. Plenty of chicken in my enchilada, horchata a bit sweet but authentic. Enjoying the Jamaica tea now.
